Mentors

We encourage everyone to have at least one personal mentor as you progress through Foundations21. This will be someone who is able to be an inspiration and a guide.

At various points you will be encouraged to be in contact with your mentor to share your insights and discoveries, and to ask for their response and feedback.

With the help of other Christians in your local church, most people should be able to find someone suitable for this role. If for any reason you are unable to find a mentor, we can put you in touch with the nearest church that is doing Foundations21 and they may be able to help.

Although the idea of a personal mentor may be new to you, it's an element of discipleship that people are increasingly finding to be of great benefit.

A good mentor...

  • has been a Christian for some time, and brings knowledge and experience in living the Christian life
  • provides a supportive environment in which successes and failures can be discussed
  • helps you through the sometimes difficult stages of faith development
  • enables you to gain new confidence as you grow in your spiritual gifts and ministry
  • can point you to other people who can answer questions or provide guidance
  • offers a wider understanding of the church
  • could be a wise and trusted friend
